Welcome to Hope Rising, where friends are working to make a difference in our community. We feel that a group of energetic, compassionate people can do great things together.

Hope Rising is a Washington, D.C.-based, non-profit corporation established in 2003 to make Washington a better place by helping those in need. Hope Rising plans and supports social events that raise funds and awareness for area charities, aiding them in providing services for others.

To date, we have raised over $300,000 for local D.C. charities through our annual Celebrate Hope event. We have also paved the way for other charitable efforts, which have resulted in almost $50,000 being raised for additional worthy causes, including the Lance Armstrong foundation. The founders of Hope Rising are committed to making their community a better place by raising money and awareness for charitable organizations that reach out and provide services and support to the underserved of the Washington, D.C. area.

Celebrate Hope VI is already scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Washington Club in downtown DC. Mark your calendars now! Click Here for more event information.

This year we are proud to be raising money for two inspiring organizations, Heads Up and Bright Beginnings. These two charities focus on providing stability, education and confidence for the homeless and at risk children of our community.

Bright Beginnings

Sadly, families with young children are among the fastest growing segments of the homeless population in Washington, D.C. Bright Beginnings is a child and family development center that offers a bright start for homeless infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and their families. Bright Beginnings serves children whose families are living in crisis shelters or transitional housing.

Every day at Bright Beginnings, some of the most vulnerable little ones in DC get food and safety, an opportunity to learn, and warm affection. Meanwhile, Bright Beginnings provides individual training and group workshops to help the parents become self-sufficient and build healthy families.

Heads Up

Since 1996, Heads Up has been serving the DC community’s adolescents and young adults. Their mission is to provide children and youth from low-income neighborhoods with the academic skills and learning opportunities they need to succeed and to give college students the chance to help address those needs in order to promote their development as effective social change leaders.

Heads Up has provided tutoring and mentoring programs to create opportunities for many of DC’s children, families and local college students to learn, lead, and serve. Heads Up runs after-school and summer programs for hundreds of children across Washington, D.C., engaging a talented corps of college students as tutors.

It's sometimes easy to adopt a cynical approach to the world, but there are so many reasons for hope. We, the founders of Hope Rising, believe that in a small way, our efforts to raise money for great causes through celebrations of hope will encourage and support those who are doing the incredibly important and difficult work: helping our neighbors in greatest need.
