Welcome to Hope Rising, where friends are working to make a difference in our community. We feel that a group of energetic, compassionate people can do great things together.
Hope Rising is a Washington, D.C.-based, non-profit corporation established in 2003 to make Washington a better place by helping those in need. Hope Rising plans and supports social events that raise funds and awareness for area charities, aiding them in providing services for others.
To date, we have raised $227,600 for House of Ruth, including $75,000 at Celebrate Hope IV on February 24, 2007. We've enjoyed an increase in our donation to House of Ruth year over year as our signature Celebrate Hope events have raised the following amounts:
We were honored and humbled to learn at our annual Celebrate Hope event in 2006 that House of Ruth was calling its newest facility, which houses and provides around-the-clock support to 12 families, "Hope Rising." That's right...their newest facility is named after our organization. That's quite an honor, and quite a responsibility. There is lots of work to be done to keep the lights on, pay the incredible staff, and ensure the facilities are as equipped as possible, and we are committed to doing our part.

Selecting a charity for which to raise money has not been an easy task, as so many deserve our help. When you learn about the incredible work being done by House of Ruth, you'll immediately understand why we chose them.
House of Ruth has been helping women, children and families in need throughout the District of Columbia since 1976. They provide a comprehensive array of housing, services and support in a number of nurturing environments. At House of Ruth, women, children and families heal from lifetimes of traumatic abuse.

It's sometimes easy to adopt a cynical approach to the world, but there are so many reasons for hope. We, the founders of Hope Rising, believe that in a small way, our efforts to raise money for great causes through celebrations of hope will encourage and support those who are doing the incredibly important and difficult work: helping our neighbors in greatest need.
